Sipho The Gift has finally blessed us with his long awaited album ‘Mirror Man’. This isn’t just any album, it is ‘THE ALBUM’ as this project showcases a different side of ‘Sipho The Gift’. I love this project not because I mistakenly got the opportunity to listen to it way in advance but because it so artistic.
I remember when I first heard the project, I was initially given access to the private listening link but with the thought that it was for the first lead single ‘Let You Tell It’ but it turned out to have been the whole project unlocked. I didn’t hesitate to click play as I thought that was part if the strategy. I then texted Sipho to let him know about the error but after listening to the tape of course and I simply asked him ‘Was It Intentional?’ and he responded, ‘It was a mistake. It was only meant to be that single’. I never refreshed my page for the whole 3 hours as I wanted to understand the project before it drops.
I fell in love with how diverse he was with every sound but most importantly he had to remind us the he also raps hence ‘Sincerely Yours’ being the intro and ‘Yutgmh (A Poem)’. I picked on ‘Nas’ and ‘Method Man’ inspirations as he took it all the way back to ‘boom bap rap’ style. This is a well put together project as he shows us why he is ‘Gifted’ or rather ‘The Chosen One’ at what he does. It consists of a balance between ‘Love, Afro, Dance and Rap’ all in one pack of 10 Tracks.
Personally I had no skips when listening to the project as it spoke to me and allowed me to feel free for a little bit in my head. For once to feel creative in everything I do. It took me to the dance even though I do not know how to dance. It made me feel like I can do it. It is a must plug in project as you connect more with yourself whilst embarking on Sipho’s journey in the project.
