Mzansi rapper Big Zulu is going back to Obanjaneni Primary School in Bergville, KZN. The school visit will be followed by his homecoming event scheduled for 24 December at Bergville Sports Complex.
“The purpose of my visit is to donate shoes to school kids. I am buying about 900 school shoes. I am excited about this because it means these kids will have shoes next year. I’m doing this in collaboration with Spitz,” said Big Zulu.
Last year he bought laptops for this school.
“Last year, I donated laptops for the school. I am hoping to do more for the school. My goal is to see these kids getting quality education. These are our future leaders and I am investing in them. I wouldn’t want any of them to drop out. I’d be happy to meet them one day driving their own cars and having their own businesses and properties. It starts now with us investing in their education,” he said.
He later announced the news on his Facebook page and wrote: “I grew up poor, I didn’t have shoes. The ones I had were old and torn. When it was cold, I’d dip my feet into the cows’ dung to feel its warmth. Today, things have changed, I’m an ambassador for one of the top shoe brands. Therefore I don’t want kids to go through the same experience as me instead I want them to have a brighter future.”
His industry friends and followers applauded him.
Cindy wrote: “Keep up the good work, Big Zulu. May God continue blessing you.”
Moeketsi said: “Keep doing the good work, nkabi. I’m proud of you.”
