Matthew Booth and Sonia are officially divorced
Matthew Booth and Sonia are legally divorced.
The Johannesburg High Court finalised the divorce on Friday following a lengthy back and forth.
The divorce was sparked by Matthew’s infidelity in the marriage, as his wife exposed his affair with the now-divorced Bongani Mthombeni-Moller.
ZiMoja can reveal that the former couple had a 50% split of their joint estate due to being married in community of property, and there will be no spousal maintenance as Matthew claimed poverty. Matthew filed for divorce in November 2022, while Bongani filed for divorce from her husband, Professor Klaus Möller in February 2023, with her divorce being finalised in November of the same year.
Sonia confirmed the news of her divorce finalisation to ZiMoja citing that she looks forward to the next chapter of her life. “I get to live another life in this lifetime”, it is well,” she said. Asked if she was in a relationship, Sonia said she needed to work on herself before she got into a relationship. ‘I’m going to take my time; I have a hectic schedule pushing my Cheesecake brand,” she said. Sonia also said that she has not thought of changing her surname and that her spiritual parents will guide her on the issue.
