The national body of the Super Eagles Supporters Club (SESC) has investiture the Honourable Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa as one of its patrons.
In the same vein, the Chairman House Committee for Youth, Sports and Social Development, Hon. Moshood Olarenwaju Oshun and member representing Surulere Constituency at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Desmond Olusola Elliot have been appointed as ambassadors.
The appointment which was announced by the President of SESC, Prince Vincent Okumagba was borne out of the resolve of the leadership of the body to appreciate the continual efforts of the Speaker towards sports development and his selfless service to humanity.
The investiture and decoration was done over the weekend when the delegation of SESC led by Blessing Nwanolue, the National Welfare officer together with the National Executives and members of the Club paid the Honourable Speaker a courtesy visit at the complex of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Speaking on behalf of the SESC President, Prince Vicent Okumagba who is out of country on vacation, Mr. Olisemeka Obi said Hon Obasa was found qualified to be patron of the revered organization due to his huge love and support for sports, especially football, selfless service to humanity and his input in the development of Lagos State and the nation at large.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Obasa said he was happy to be found worthy to be a patron of the prestigious Super Eagles Supporters Club, and readily available to accept all the responsibilities that comes with the appointment.
“You have so many persons you could have chosen from, I want to thank you and I am highly honoured for finding me worthy to be your patron.
“We have seen sports as a tool that we can use to build on as a government to create economic viability and in achieving that, there is no way we can undermine you people that give support to our athletes and I want to encourage you to continue to do more”, said the Mr. Speaker.
He however thanked all the members of SESC for their act of patriotism, loyalty and selfless service to the nation while promising to join them by doing everything possible to motivate the national football teams to achieve more successes.
Other members of the delegation to the Lagos State House of Assembly are Mr. Happy Ehiedu, the Chief Whip, Chief Ejiro Okurame, Alao Jimoh & Hajia Magaji.
Meanwhile, the public relation department of SESC has also revealed the readiness of the body ahead of the Aisha Buhari Cup in Lagos, saying all have been done to make the event a colourful one, while the club have also started preparations ahead of the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon and also looking forward to the World Cup Qualifiers that will start later this year.
