Nigerian troops have recorded another success in their battle to end terrorism in the North Western part of the country as they decimated the camp of the terrorists with many killed in the forests of Gwashi, Bukkuyum Local Government and Anka Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.
It was learnt that the terrorists’ den in Gando forest was also destroyed as many of them were killed in the military operations.
According to reports, community members trooped out in celebration of the troops victory over the terrorists who have made life hellish for them in recent times.
Recalled that few days ago, terrorists from this area demanded a huge sum of N34 million as levies from four communities in Kairu district under Bukkuyum Local Government Area, with a threat to unleash brutal attacks should any of the communities fail to comply.
Reacting to the victory of the troops, a villager from Kairu community, Abdulahi Yahaya Kairu said that the military exhibited professionalism in the process.
He said that the citizens have been under serious threat for years as the terrorists continued to extort money from them at will.
Kairu appealed to both the Federal and the State Governments to allow the troops to remain in the axis as the terrorists might likely return if the military operatives are no longer there.
“In fact, the military operatives have saved us from these notorious terrorists who have formed their own government in the axis,” he added.
