AKA dropped the third single from his upcoming album ‘Mass Country’ last week Friday. ‘PRADA’ features Khuli Chana and samples the house classic ‘Darlin’ by Knee Deep.
Christer Kobedi, who’s listed among Zādok, FD and AKA himself, as a producer on ‘PRADA’, shared a short video breaking down how he produced the beat for ‘PRADA’ shortly after the song’s release.
It started with the sample which was chopped by AKA. Christer pitched it down 12 semitones and added drums and other elements, notably using Amapiano’s log drum instead of 808s which is becoming common practice for a number of (South) African producers which proves just how much Amapiano has changed the sounds of popular music.
Christer, who was introduced to the game through the golden days of Ambitiouz Entertainment, has become a hitmaker of note, having produced songs such as ‘Hold’ by Blxckie and Samthing Soweto’s ‘Amagents’ among several others.
