A new creative chapter has unfolded in the South African music scene as Msaki and Jesse Clegg officially release the music video for their collaborative single Wayside Lover, featuring Sjava. The track had served as the first offering from their anticipated joint EP titled Entropy, a body of work that has been quietly developing over the past few years.

The release arrives with a moving visual this time around that was directed by Marty Bleazard that complements the song’s emotional tone and a reflection on connection, distance and the passage of time between two people bound by something deeper than circumstance. Wayside Lover draws from a space of introspection, narrating the silent tension that exists when two lives intertwine only to be steered apart by life’s unpredictable course.

Msaki and Jesse Clegg had revealed that Wayside Lover was among the earliest songs written for Entropy, a track that shaped the creative direction of the entire project. It holds what they describe as the “fragile tension” between individuals who share an undeniable bond yet must confront opposing paths. The song delves into love that is genuine but requires release and a portrayal of how letting go can sometimes signify the truest form of love.

Thematically, the track serves as a poetic reflection on closure and acceptance, being an ode to the “what could have been” while finding meaning in the moments that remain. It is built around the emotional landscape of impermanence, searching for balance between longing and peace, holding on and moving forward.

Sjava’s involvement adds an essential layer of depth, bringing warmth and texture to the collaboration. His contribution elevates the track’s emotional gravity, delivering a performance that complements the restrained yet powerful delivery of both Msaki and Jesse Clegg. The synergy between the three artists creates a sound that feels unified yet distinct, capturing the sentiment of connection across distance.

After years of development and refinement, Wayside Lover marks the beginning of a new chapter under Entropy. The release of the music video represents the first step in unveiling what the project has quietly become the body of work centered on connection, time and the emotional forces that draw people together and apart.

With the video now out, audiences are given their first full glimpse into Entropy, as Msaki, Jesse Clegg, and Sjava collectively present Wayside Lover and a moment were art and emotion meet in perfect stillness.
