A Southern African rock python has been captured on a farm in Emona in KwaZulu-Natal.
This after a farmer contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) just before 9am on Christmas Day after he spotted the female juvenile snake near his geese enclosure.
The python, measuring approximately 3 metres, had consumed several geese eggs.
According to Rusa, Andrew Douglas from Ndlondo Reptile Park was contacted and on arrival, captured the reptile, which will be relocated to a more suitable location.

The python, however, did not go down without a fight.

Mamba vs Christmas tree
Last Thursday, snake rescuer Nick Evans jokingly said Santa had left him an early Christmas present under someone else’s Christmas tree in Queensburgh after being called in to capture a mamba.
“The snake was outside when it was disturbed by the gardener. It then moved away from him, out of fear, saw the open door, and ducked inside. From there, it went up the Christmas tree and onto a small shelf above it,” wrote Evans on his Facebook page.
“Then, while I was on my way, it slithered back down the tree, and hid at the bottom, behind a speaker. I do wish it waited for me on the tree. That would have made for some cool photos!”
He then picked it up from where it was hiding, with the tongs, and lifted it and pinned it down.
He said it was about 2 to 2.1 metres long, with a bit of the tail missing.
“It’s one of the more amusing places I’ve found a mamba.”
