‘He took the phone all the way to Sandton with him,’ a source told the Mgosi squad. 

An upset Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi accidentally took a journalist’s phone home with him instead of his own, following the post match press conference after Amakhosi’s Soweto derby loss to Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

Nabi had given a heated response to a question from another journalist about why he was the right man to take Kaizer Chiefs forward, as Amakhosi slipped to a 12th Betway Premiership defeat on the season. 

Chiefs coach blunder

Clearly distracted, Nabi then picked up the wrong phone and left the press conference room. 

“He took the phone all the way to Sandton with him,” a source told the Mgosi squad. 

“They had to phone his driver before he realised what had happened.” 

Nabi lives in Sandton and the phone had to be returned to FNB Stadium to be swapped for the correct device.

The Chiefs head coach is clearly feeling the pressure after a dismal season in the Premiership. He does have another chance at redemption, however, as Chiefs take on Pirates in Saturday’s Nedbank Cup final in Durban.
