Yomi-Egbe Wins Ufitfly’s 1.5m Prize At Ikeja Captain’s Day Tourney

Esimaje Yomi-Egbe has emerged the overall winner of this year’s edition of the Ikeja Golf Club Captain’s Day tournament held over the weekend, carting home N1.5 million worth Star prize donated by Ufitfly as major sponsor of the event.

Over 700 golfers featured from various states and clubs across the country in the one-week annual tournament which was organized to honour the outgoing Captain, Mr. Hakeem Akintoye that has done so well for the club during his tenure.

Bisola Folarin, the regional manager, Lagos of the destination management firm, (Ufitfly) that donated the biggest prize of the tournament, a premium package of all expense paid trip to Kenya, Jerusalem or Dubai, in his address during the presentation said the gesture in line with the CSR (corporate social responsibility) policy of Ufitfly.

“Ufitfly is a big supporter of sports, especially golf and we will continue to support golf with aim of ensuring a synergy between sports and tourism which fall under luxury sports travel. And we have done a lot under the CSR policy of our firm to support sports, and as a stakeholder and tourism practitioner”, said Folarin.

The Managing Director CEO Polaris Bank Innocent Ike who presented the prize described the event as a celebration of success because the outgoing Captain, Mr. Hakeem Akintoye has done so well to raise the bar as a leader of the golf section during his eventful tenure.

Akintoye in his address thanked all and sundry that had contributed in making the event a success, their numerous sponsors, especially the Ufitfly and Polaris Bank for their huge support to the game of golf.

He added that the club has also put in place measures to break the barrier of golf as an elitist game with their catch them the young initiative with the idea of taking golf to schools and giving children the opportunity to play the game.
