Zonke gets dragged for her upcoming Women’s Day concert

Zonke Dikana has come under fire after unveiling the line-up for an upcoming Women’s Day concert, with many calling out the glaring lack of female representation.

The celebrated vocalist shared details of the event, scheduled for 9 August 2025 at the DP World Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, and quickly found herself at the centre of a heated debate.

The line-up includes international R&B stars Anthony Hamilton and Joe Thomas, alongside South African artists Sjava and Vusi Nova.

Zonke, notably, is the only woman on the roster, something that did not sit well with fans and social media users, who felt the event missed the mark for a day meant to honour women.

“So, where are the women?” questioned one user, @TokeloMoloto, who reposted Zonke’s announcement and sparked a wider conversation online.

Critics didn’t just question the lack of female voices; they also raised eyebrows over the inclusion of Sjava, who has previously faced rape allegations.

Many felt it was inappropriate to feature such a figure on a Women’s Day platform, regardless of the status of the case.

Frustrated fans argued that South Africa has no shortage of talented female performers who could have added diversity and authenticity to the celebration.

so where are the women? https://t.co/VqJFVyWqy7
