Ghanaian Barry Yaw has become the cynosure of all eyes going into the final round of the ACUTECH Golf Championship 2025 holding at the Ikeja Golf Club in Lagos Nigeria.
Yaw who came from two over course par 69 in the first round of the championship, shot 3-under par in the second round on Tuesday to displace early leader, Francis Epe, who tied in the second position with Kamalu Bako on 3-over par.
The Ghanaian speaking to SOKOnnect after the round two impressive performance affirmed he would have to maintain focus in the final round three this Wednesday to ensure that the title does not elude him.
However, the shocking story of the ACUTECH Golf Championship 2025 performance became the exit of the defending champion, Francis Christopher, who amassed 155 gross, 17-over course par after 36 holes, failing to meet the 15-over cut mark.
Ironically, the Minna Cantonment professional made made history in the 2024 championship coming from 5-over (143) par after 36 to lift the title with 5-under on the last day to even par (207) over 54 holes.
However, in the Ladies Tour, Bola Mustapha is still cruising on for the title with 157 gross, 19-over course par after 36 holes, just as the Liman Muhammed now holds the ace for the Senior Tour with 151 gross, 13-over course par after 36 holes.
Meanwhile, the amateurs will be part of the battle today to wrap off the championship, with some expected fanfare during the presentation ceremony.
