Agbana Football Academy of Ikole Ekiti emerged winner of the ODEP Unity Football Competition after defeating Salem City FC of Oye Ekiti Local Government with a lone goal in a final match played inside Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado-Ekiti over the weekend.
Shadrack FC of Emure Local Government also secured the third prizes at the expense of IFaki United from Ido-Osi Local Government, while Olufemi Sunday emerged the highest goal scorer with eight goals.
The event also witnessed the attendance of ex-internationals led by Chief Segun Odegbami, Dr. Felix Owolabi, Idowu Otubusen, Zion Ogungeyimi, Kola Taiwo, Abiodun Salami, Mutiu Adepoju and Duke Udi among others.
Otunba Ademola and his entourage arrived the venue amidst warm pleasantries and loud ovations; Popular Fuji star, King Dr. Saheed Osupa entertained the audience with his sonorous voice of classical fuji music.
While addressing the people, Otunba Demola Popoola pledged support for the youths and promised to promote values by investing in Youths and sports development in Ekiti State.
The N50mi Empowerment Scheme that was also launched at the venue was increased to 100million by the Otunba Popoola with consideration to go round the teeming youths and people were encouraged to apply, as the programme is aimed at improving the quality of lives of Ekiti people.
Otunba Ademola and his wife, Olubukola Ademola had, earlier been rightly Installed as Otunba Atunluse and Erelu Atunluse respectively by His Royal Majesty Oba Joseph Adewole; the Owa Ajero of Ijero Kingdom.
The honorary award is an indication that Otunba Demola has devoted his life to the selfless service of mankind over the years; needless to say that he has a sustained reputation of selfless humanitarian gestures in numerous communities of Ekiti State.
