Beverly Steyn and Nonku Williams fall out over unpaid loan
Reality TV stars Beverly Steyn and Nonku Williams have found themselves on opposite sides of a legal battle, marking a dramatic fallout from what was once a close friendship.
The two, who appeared together on The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip South Africa, are now locked in a dispute over money, with Beverly accusing Nonku of failing to repay a loan totalling R125,000.
According to court papers, the agreement dates back to August last year and includes an initial R25,000 loan given interest-free, followed by a second loan of R100,000 with a hefty 50% interest attached.
The terms reportedly required Nonku to settle the full amount by 12 September 2025, with a steep 30% monthly interest penalty kicking in if she failed to meet the deadline.
The matter has since escalated to the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court, where Nonku was issued a summons instructing her to pay R126,710 within 10 days or formally indicate her intention to defend the case.
The additional amount includes costs Beverly incurred after handing the matter over to her legal team.
Before deleting a previous statement addressing the situation, Nonku acknowledged the delay and attributed it to personal and financial pressures.
“I’m a single mom for the longest time and anyone in my shoes knows how heavy that responsibility can be. There’s a constant pressure to provide the very best for your children, especially the things you never had growing up. I can go without anything, I always have, but my kids have to be taken care of. That has always been my priority,” she said.
She maintained that the situation was never meant to spiral into a public dispute, adding, “I also want to be clear about what actually transpired. As business owners know, payments can get delayed. That’s what happened here. I had every intention of paying her back fully. I have reached out to her previously and we were meant to resolve this matter privately.”
What began as a private financial arrangement between friends has now turned into a courtroom clash, with their once-friendly bond seemingly beyond repair.
