Sani Buhari Daura, a popular Kano-based industrialist has died at the age of 90 after a brief illness according to reports.
His son Abdulrasheed Daura confirmed the death, saying his father died in the early hours of Sunday in Dubai.
The development according to reports said that Daura, a village in Katsina State and the home of President Muhammadu Buhari in Northern Nigeria, is in a mourning mood following Sani Buhari Daura’s death.
The businessman who was born in Daura, Katsina State in January 1932, had his Islamic training under his father who was the Kbadi of Daura and laterwentto Daura Elementary School in 1938.
The late Daura was the chairman and founder of many companies such as Bayajidda Nigerian Limited, Standard Construction Limited, Buhari Properties and Development Company and Katsina Oil Mill.
His company, Standard Construction Limited, built one of the most famous edifices in Abuja — the Ship House, which is now occupied by the Ministry of Defence.
The company also built NEXIM Bank and Lion Bank offices in Abuja, among many other roads, hospitals and schools.
Sani Daura was honoured with the Officer of the Order of the Niger in 2003.
