Danya Devs is stepping into a new sonic lane on an upcoming release that brings together a diverse lineup of collaborators. The yet-to-be-released track, titled Mngani Wami, sees him join forces with CIZA, Oscar Mbo, Makhanj and MPHO.WAV. The single has already been teased ahead of its scheduled drop next Friday, offering an early glimpse into its direction.
From the preview shared, Mngani Wami leans into an Amapiano soundscape, a genre that CIZA has consistently been associated with in his recent work. The instrumental structure, tempo, and log drum elements heard in the snippet align with the broader Amapiano style, signaling a return to familiar territory for CIZA while introducing a different approach for Danya Devs.
Danya Devs has largely been rooted in Afro-pop & Hip Hop across his recent releases. His 2026 album Bayede reflects this, presenting an 18-track project built on melodic arrangements, rhythmic versatility and vocal-driven compositions. The project blends upbeat records with more reflective moments, maintaining a consistent Afro-pop identity throughout its runtime. Tracks from the album, alongside earlier singles such as “Ola Sbali” and “Asambe,” further establish his foundation within that sound.
The shift on Mngani Wami therefore marks a notable change in direction. While Danya Devs has experimented with tempo and mood before, the move into a more Amapiano-centered production introduces a different rhythmic structure compared to the Afro-pop base heard on Bayede. This positions the collaboration as a cross-genre effort rather than a continuation of his previous sonic blueprint.
His openness to such transitions has been previously documented. During an appearance on 5 Hip Hop Nights hosted by DJ Speedsta, Danya Devs spoke about not wanting to be confined to a single genre, highlighting the importance of creative flexibility and exploration in his work. That approach is reflected in his willingness to collaborate across styles and sounds, as seen in this latest release.
The collaboration also brings together artists from different corners of the South African music landscape, each contributing distinct influences. With CIZA’s Amapiano background, Oscar Mbo’s production identity, and additional inputs from Makhanj and MPHO.WAV, the track merges multiple creative directions into a single offering.
As anticipation builds ahead of its release, Mngani Wami stands as a convergence of styles, with Danya Devs stepping beyond his established Afro-pop sound into a space shaped by Amapiano elements and collaborative input.
