The Scorpion Kings, made up of DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small, are set to host Scorpion Kings Live once again this year at FNB Stadium, with the event scheduled for September 19. The show marks a larger-scale staging of the Amapiano-focused concert series, which has previously drawn significant crowds and featured a wide range of performers within the genre.

Scorpion Kings Live has become one of the notable live music events in South Africa’s Amapiano scene, reflecting the genre’s growth and its transition from club-based performances to stadium-scale productions. Past editions of the event have been staged at major venues and have included collaborations with multiple artists, DJs and producers associated with Amapiano.

Tickets for the 2026 edition officially went on sale on May 5. Shortly after sales opened, some users reported experiencing difficulties accessing the ticketing platform, with claims that the site had slowed down or crashed during the initial rush. Concerns were also raised on social media by some users who indicated that certain ticket categories appeared to be sold out early.

Addressing the situation, DJ Maphorisa stated that the platform experienced high traffic volumes at the time tickets were released. According to him, approximately 500,000 users were active on the system and in the queue during the opening period.

Maphorisa explained that only 60% of the total ticket allocation had been released during the initial sale window. The portion that appeared sold out reflected that first allocation rather than the full capacity of the event. He added that the remaining 40% of tickets would be made available later on May 6, with a scheduled release set for 5pm.

They indicated that the response to the second batch of ticket sales would play a role in determining whether an additional show date would be considered. According to both DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small, a potential second date would depend on demand following the full release of tickets.

If a second show is confirmed, it is expected to take place on September 20, one day after the initially scheduled performance.
