Johannesburg-based DJ and well-known talent manager Tsholofelo “DJ Stu” Ntuli is breathing a sigh of relief after his stolen vehicle was found just hours after it was taken outside a nightclub in the city. The incident, which occurred on Friday night in Marshalltown, left the entertainment figure momentarily shaken—but ultimately thankful that no one was harmed.
Now, with his car recovered and the worst avoided, DJ Stu is relieved, though still counting the cost of what was lost.
The incident unfolded after DJ Stu had completed a DJ set at an event in Johannesburg’s city center. Speaking to Sunday World, the music entrepreneur explained that he had briefly entered the venue with a friend to carry out some “town work” related to the gig. Within a matter of hours, he discovered his VW Polo TSI had vanished.
“This was around 11 pm. We attended an event in downtown Johannesburg. I was with a friend. We entered the club, and in less than two hours after we finished the DJ set, the car was gone,” he said.
Stu immediately reported the theft at the Johannesburg Central Police Station, providing details about the vehicle and several personal belongings that were inside at the time.

“These were precious pieces and not just any random clothing items,” he explained, adding that the group had been traveling with performance gear and personal effects for the night’s work.
Fortunately, the car was fitted with a tracking device, which proved critical in the swift recovery of the vehicle. According to DJ Stu, the tracking company notified him that the VW Polo had been abandoned near Maponya Mall in Soweto, presumably after the criminals realized it was being tracked.
“We found the car in Soweto, stripped and some of the valuables stolen—like the bumper, headlights, and so forth,” he reported.
While the car was damaged and several items were never recovered, DJ Stu is relieved that the situation didn’t escalate into something more dangerous, such as a hijacking.
In reflecting on the incident, DJ Stu struck a tone of gratitude. He acknowledged the emotional toll of the theft but emphasized that no lives were put at risk, which he considers the most important takeaway.
“I’m happy it was not a hijacking incident where people’s lives would have been at risk. Valuables can be replaced,” he said. “We are approaching the holiday season, so we need to be extra vigilant, I guess.”
