
It was a day full of pomp and pageantry last weekend at the Ibori Golf & Country Club, Asaba during the closing ceremony of the LGAN Open 2021 Nigerian Cup, a mega golf tournament organised by Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN).
After two days of intensive game of golf, Amina Wilfred playing handicap 8 emerged winner with the scores of 85 gross over 77net while Ehis Igbinadolor playing handicap 12 ended as the runners up with scores of 85 gross over 73 net and Racheal Danjuma also of with handicap 8 got 86 gross over 78net to become the second runners up.
Evelyn Oyome with handicap 6 that had won the tournament in the past, but could not maintain her top performance after dropping to the 6th position with scores of 91 gross over 81net.
While speaking during the closing ceremony on the theme: ‘Looking Inward’, the President of LGAN, Susan Cole-Kotas thanked all golfers, friends and well-wishers for taking time out to be part of the historic event.
The championship was particularly interesting because the outgoing President decided to honour all the past Presidents by putting up a trophy for them to contest for while also she hasn’t left behind all the ladies who have died this has birthed the Memorial Cup which was played as stable ford format to make sure it’s all inclusive.
