It was a black weekend for the two Ibadan based popular broadcasters, Enitan Olusegun Bamidele and Dele Akinbode following a respective huge loss of belongings and valuables worth millions of naira to robbers that visited their abodes.
While sharing his bitter experience with some section of the media yesterday, Fresh FM’s Bamidele that is popularly known as (EOB) said it was the grace of God that saved him from the armed robbers numbering almost ten that visited his house located around Odo-Ona Kekere, Arapaja area of Oluyole local government on Saturday evening to Sunday morning.
“I was dazed seeing how my personal effects were being carted away by the robbers. In-fact, after collecting cash and gadgets, they also packed clothes, shoes and belts. It was such an ugly memory that I don’t like to recall”, EOB noted.
He however on Monday revealed on air the message he was directed by the robbers to relay to the government while presenting his program along with Yinka Ayefele that “government should create jobs or find a way to engage the teeming jobless youths and if not wave of robbery will continue to be on high side.”
Speaking in the same vein, Akinbode who works with 32 FM Ibadan narrated how he met his office located at suite 14, Joybam shopping complex, Ososami area, behind Liberty Stadium, Ibadan was burgled and equipments he had acquired in preparation of an online radio was carted away.
“I never knew the place had been burgled until Monday evening because the thieves came into the office via the ceiling which shows that it has an insider undertone. I was out of town over the weekend for an assignment in Ondo State, but was surprised when I opened the office to pick an item Monday evening and discovered that burglars had broken in.
“I reported the incident at Iyaganku divisional Police Headquarters and some arrests were made by the Police that had commenced investigation. It is unfortunate, all equipment I have acquired to start an online radio early next year were all carted away by the burglars.” Ijinle revealed amid tears.
Meanwhile, the leadership of Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN) under Pastor Seun Awodele has condemned the robbery attack while sympathising with the duo over the ugly occurrence in a statement issued and made available to newsmen.
Awodele charged the security agencies, especially the Police to ensure the marauders that perpetrated this dastardly act didn’t go unpunished, while calling on the government to rise up to the security challenge in the state which seems to responsible for the recent prevalent robbery incidences.
