South African hip hop artist iFani is preparing to release a new mixtape titled Msebenzi Wam, which is scheduled to arrive later this month. The rapper confirmed the project through his social media platforms, revealing that the release will consist of eight tracks and marks the latest chapter in his ongoing return to music.
While an official release date and tracklist have yet to be announced, iFani indicated that Msebenzi Wam will differ from his previous releases. The rapper described the mixtape as a body of work intended for mature listeners, suggesting that it explores darker subject matter and draws from personal experiences. He also hinted that some of the songs contain direct references to people and events that have shaped his journey, signalling a more uncompromising lyrical approach than fans may be accustomed to.
The announcement follows renewed momentum in iFani’s career after the release of Shake (Remix) in April. The updated version of his 2012 hit features Sosoboy Fosho, Gaffi, Khitha Pinca and Musa, and was released after the original song resurfaced on social media more than a decade after its debut. The remix formed part of the rapper’s comeback campaign and reintroduced one of his biggest records to a new generation of listeners.
In recent months, iFani has also confirmed that he is working on his long-awaited album 3rd Quadrant, the follow-up to his I Believes In Me album series. However, Msebenzi Wam will arrive before that studio album, giving fans a separate project while anticipation continues to build around his next full-length release.
The rapper first established himself as one of South African hip hop’s leading voices with I Believes In Me (1st Quadrant), which produced hits such as Ewe, Shake, Milli and Iingoma Ezimnandi. He followed it with I Believes In Me (2nd Quadrant) in 2015, continuing the concept that became synonymous with his catalogue. Both projects contributed significantly to his rise in the local music industry and earned commercial success.
With Msebenzi Wam now confirmed for release this month, attention turns to what the eight-track mixtape will deliver. Although production credits, guest features and the complete tracklist remain under wraps, the announcement signals that iFani’s return remains active, with another project set to add to a comeback that has gathered pace throughout 2026.
