South African rapper Kane Keid is preparing to release his first official single of 2026 after announcing that new music will arrive on Friday, 12 June. The rapper shared the news on social media with a brief message that read, “New single dropping Friday,” confirming the release and signalling the start of his solo campaign for the year.
The upcoming release follows a relatively active period for Kane Keid, who has maintained visibility through collaborations, guest appearances and promotional releases while building anticipation for his forthcoming debut album, SON OF SOiL.
Although the new track will serve as his first official single of the year, Kane Keid made headlines in May when he released “POV (#RespectTheArtform)” on YouTube. The diss track emerged during a period of heightened lyrical exchanges within South African hip-hop and was directed at fellow rapper K1llBrady. The release quickly became part of a wider conversation surrounding the ongoing wave of rap clashes that has dominated sections of the local scene in recent months.
Earlier this year, Kane Keid officially launched the rollout for SON OF SOiL, his highly anticipated debut studio album. In January, he released “SON OF SOIL (RESET),” a visual introduction to the project that offered listeners an early glimpse into the album’s creative direction. The project is expected to arrive later in 2026.
Beyond his solo releases, Kane Keid has remained active through features and collaborative efforts. He also delivered a freestyle over the instrumental of “Four Horsemen,” one of the most talked-about beats in South African hip-hop this year, further showcasing his lyrical ability and keeping his name in ongoing rap discussions.
In April 2025, Kane Keid released his debut EP, Not Famous, a nine-track project featuring Usimamane, Zulu Mecca, Thembi Powers, Ntatao and Retrovibe. The project was preceded by the single “Trouble Again” featuring Usimamane and further strengthened his standing within the local hip-hop landscape. Later that year, he followed it up with Call U Back When I Make It, a project that added another chapter to his growing catalogue and featured tracks including “BIG” with The Big Hash.
With a new single now confirmed for 12 June, Kane Keid’s next chapter is officially underway as anticipation continues to build around both the release and his forthcoming debut album.
