The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists [NUJ] Lagos State Council has unveiled Dr Festus Oshoba publisher of The Merit Newspaper as the Keynote Speaker for its forthcoming Press Week billed for June 27, 2026.
The unveiling of Dr Oshoba who is also the Chief Consultant Opthalmologist, Ladkem Specialist Eye Hospital, Lagos took place on Wednesday June 10, 2026 at the NUJ Secretariat, Ladi Lawal Press Centre Alausa lkeja Lagos.
Dr Oshoba on the occasion will be speaking on the theme: “Journalism and Nation Building: Promoting Accountability and Good Governance.”
The keynote address is expected to focus on the role of the media in democracy, press freedom and ethical journalism, providing insight in building a liberal democratic system for Nigeria and beyond.
The Chapel Chairman, Comrade Abraham Akpabio said that the choice of Dr Oshoba described as a “cat with nine lives,” reflected his unalloyed contributions to the growth of journalism spanning years and commitment to providing employment for the teeming population in journalism and medical fields.
