South African house music duo Liquideep has given fans another reason to celebrate their long-awaited return. The award-winning pair recently shared a teaser of new material currently in development, confirming that fresh music is on the horizon following their reunion after more than a decade apart.
Taking to social media, Liquideep previewed a snippet of music and accompanied it with a message that reassured supporters that their signature chemistry remains intact. “We heard you loud and clear. 🎧 Here’s a taste of what we’re working on. The magic is still there, the brotherhood is stronger than ever, and the music speaks for itself,” the duo wrote.
The latest teaser comes months after Liquideep revealed plans to release a new EP in September. The group also confirmed that a lead single will arrive ahead of the project, marking their first body of new music since ending their lengthy hiatus.
Comprised of Jonathan “Ziyon” Hamilton and Thabo “Ryzor” Shokgolo, Liquideep became one of South Africa’s most successful house music acts after emerging in Johannesburg in 2007. The duo built a loyal following through albums such as Oscillations (2009), Fabrics of the Heart (2010) and Welcome Aboard (2013), producing memorable hits including “Fairytale”, “Alone”, “BBM”, “Rise Again” and “Settle for Less”. Their success earned them multiple accolades, including major wins at the South African Music Awards.
In 2014, Liquideep stepped away from the spotlight and stopped releasing music as a duo. While fans continued to celebrate their catalogue over the years, speculation about a reunion persisted. That speculation finally became reality in September 2025 when Ziyon and Ryzor officially announced they were back together after an 11-year break. The pair explained that discussions about returning had been ongoing for several years before they felt the timing was right.
Their comeback quickly extended beyond social media. Following the reunion announcement, Liquideep returned to live performance stages, appearing on radio platforms and confirming appearances at major events, including BloemFeast and Zakes Bantwini’s Mayonie Open Air festival. The performances marked their first official return to the stage since their split in 2014.
Now, with a new single nearing release and an EP scheduled for September, Liquideep’s comeback is entering its next phase. The duo’s latest studio teaser signals that new music is no longer just a possibility but an approaching reality for fans who have waited years to hear the iconic partnership create together agin.
