Luyanda Ramatswi accident leaves gospel singer injured after Limpopo crash

Gospel singer Luyanda Ramatswi is counting his blessings after surviving another serious car accident. The 41-year-old artist from Atteridgeville in Tshwane was injured in a crash near Mokopane, Limpopo, on 29 January 2026 while travelling to a performance.

According to Ramatswi, the accident happened when the vehicle he was travelling in tried to avoid an oncoming car. He said they lost control, veered off the road and rolled into a bridge. The grey Isuzu double cab was badly damaged in the crash.

The singer said the incident left him with injuries to his waist and left hand. He was admitted to George Masebe Hospital in Mokopane, where he spent about a week receiving treatment. He also said he later used crutches for three weeks and is still recovering.

This was not the first major accident in Ramatswi’s life. He was also involved in another crash on 16 January 2022. After that accident, he spent nearly two weeks in Kalafong Hospital.

He said that crash affected his spinal cord and that he was still healing when the latest accident happened. Because of that, the second crash has added another difficult chapter to his recovery journey.

However, Ramatswi says the back-to-back trauma has not shaken his faith. Instead, he believes the experiences have drawn him closer to God.

Ramatswi has openly spoken about how he understands the two crashes. He believes dark spiritual forces may be attacking him because of his gospel calling. At the same time, he says he is not living in fear.

According to the singer, he has chosen prayer and fasting rather than consulting prophets or traditional spiritual figures. He says he dedicates one day each week to fasting from 6am to 6pm and praying for protection.

That message now sits at the centre of his response to the crash. Rather than focus only on pain and setbacks, he says he is trusting God to guide his recovery and protect him from further harm.

Luyanda Ramatswi accident also leaves friend injured

Ramatswi was not alone in the vehicle when the crash happened. He said his friend, who was driving the Isuzu, also suffered injuries. The friend reportedly sustained a head injury and spent more than a week in hospital in Polokwane.

He has since returned home to continue recovering in Mokopane. While Ramatswi’s own injuries remain painful, he has also spoken about relief that both men survived such a serious collision.

That part of the story adds another emotional layer to the ordeal. What could have ended in tragedy instead became a story of survival, healing and gratitude.

Luyanda Ramatswi accident comes ahead of new single release

Even after the crash, Ramatswi has continued to focus on his music. He is set to release a new single, Modimo Wa Rona, featuring Zodwa Twecu on 20 March 2026 under his label, Marothi Music.

The release comes at a significant moment. On one hand, he is still recovering from physical injuries. On the other hand, he is preparing to share new music that reflects his spiritual journey and message of faith.

Online posts linked to Ramatswi and Zodwa Twecu have also promoted the upcoming release, adding momentum to the single ahead of launch day.

Ramatswi also has reason to celebrate despite the difficult start to the year. His project Morena Oa Marena has been linked to a nomination in the Best International Gospel Song category at the 2026 Gospel Music Awards in Botswana.

The awards are scheduled to take place on 11 April 2026 at BA ISAGO University in Gaborone. Social media posts tied to the event and ticket sales have also promoted the same date and venue.

That nomination gives Ramatswi another major moment in a year already shaped by pain, prayer and perseverance. It also keeps his name in the spotlight as he continues his recovery.

Luyanda Ramatswi accident highlights resilience behind the music

For many artists, two serious crashes in a few years would be enough to force a long retreat from the public eye. Yet Ramatswi appears determined to keep moving forward. He is still healing, still speaking about his faith and still preparing to release new music.

His story is now about more than just survival. It is also about resilience, belief and the way personal hardship can shape an artist’s message. While he continues to recover, Ramatswi seems focused on one thing above all else: turning pain into purpose.
