South African music producer Prince Kaybee is still battling the emotional weight of losing his mother, who passed away on 2 September 2025.
Weeks after her death, the Fetch Your Life hitmaker continues to express how deeply the loss has shaken his everyday life, using social media as an outlet to reflect on grief and the many misconceptions surrounding it.
Kaybee only confirmed his mother’s passing four days after it happened, following backlash aimed at politician Kenny Kunene, who publicly broke the news first.
Since then, the musician has shared brief but heartfelt messages about navigating grief, making it clear that healing is far from a straight path.
Taking to X, he dismissed the belief that grief can be neatly managed or controlled, calling it completely unrealistic.
“The idea that you will be able to control grief is absurd,” he wrote.
His honesty prompted an overwhelming response from followers, many relating through their own experiences of losing loved ones.
One user, @TheRealMacaDee, asked him how he has personally handled the loss of his mother.
Prince Kaybee didn’t sugarcoat anything, revealing just how unpredictable grief can be.
“I broke down during a business meeting yesterday, so yeah,” he responded.
