Renowned producer, DJ, and Gqom trailblazer QUE DJ returns with We Don’t Play The Same Gqom 3 (WDPTSG3), the next chapter in his acclaimed project series and a bold milestone in the genre’s worldwide evolution.

The series launched with the explosive “Da Skoro” ft. DJ Lag, a collaboration between two of Gqom’s most influential architects. The single set the tone for a high-impact rollout that included an immersive experiential launch in Amsterdam during ADE, followed by the official WDPTSG3 release party on launch night, further amplifying Gqom’s presence on the global stage.

Hailing from Durban’s townships, QUE DJ has long been at the centre of Gqom’s rise, taking the sound from raw Fruity Loops experiments to international dance floors. As a founding member of Distruction Boyz, his contributions to era-defining hits like “Omunye” and “Wololo”, the latter featured in Marvel’s Black Panther cemented the genre’s place in global pop culture.

A restless innovator, QUE DJ continues to shape the sonic DNA of modern Gqom. From pioneering heavier bass movements like UMKHUNKULU, to performing at major venues such as Paradiso Amsterdam and Village Underground London, to expanding his creative world through his iGhost alter ego, QUE DJ remains one of the genre’s most progressive minds. His SAMA-award winning album We We Dont Play The Same Gqom 2and its accompanying festival further established him as a key cultural force.

Beyond the music, QUE DJ’s impact extends into community and culture. Through Amagogogo Sounds, he uplifts emerging voices across the electronic landscape, while Emagogogweni continues to evolve into a platform for immersive Gqom-led experiences most recently partnering with Spotify and leading the first-ever international installation at ADE.

Speaking on WDPTSG3, QUE DJ shares: “This project is about pushing Gqom forward while staying rooted in where we come from. It’s a reminder that our sound, our culture, and our story deserve global stages. We don’t play the same because we’re constantly evolving and this chapter is only the beginning.”

With WDPTSG3, QUE DJ pushes the boundaries once again expanding soundscapes, elevating the movement, and reinforcing his position as a driving force in South African electronic music.
