With just hours counting to the finals of the first ever Abakaliki Open Golf Championship excitement has enveloped the air over the sponsorship of the epoch making event by Rain Oil Limited.
Enene Fonne, the Lady Captain of the Abakaliki Golf Club told SOKOnnect Rain Oil is the major sponsor of the championship which commences activities on Thursday November 4, 2021.
The elated Captain said, “Though, I have never doubted the ability of God to turn things around for better for this championship, Rain Oil, the major sponsor of the event has done things beyond expectations.”
“So far, Rain Oil has donated in cash and kind; items that are certainly worth memorable and that will surely add to the credibility of the event; recalled it’s an amateur event and we will be giving out items to winners among others.
“The apprehension of getting sponsorship was predicated on the effect of the pandemic which some organisations are still to fully recover from; but thanks to God Rain Oil has made the difference,” she said.
Stakeholders in golf have always advocated the need for sponsorship and partnership, adding that it is a panacea for the development of the game, particularly in grassroots development.
