Sunday Joseph Odegha, the 2016 Plateau State Governor’s Cup champion is set to be back on the course after months of absenteeism from regular tour caused by injury.
The Minna Cantonment Golf Club Competition Secretary who has been nursing injury on the left knee since December 2022 told SOKOnnect exclusively in a chat that he would soon bounce back as his recovery rate was impressive.
According to him, “My injury recovery has improved tremendously and I’ve started light training; I’ll be ready for the next PGA Nigeria tournament and other professional tournaments that may be coming up.”
Odegha fondly known as ‘SJ’ by admirers and the Resident ‘Pro’ of Federal University (FUT) Golf Club, Minna however, admitted that he was missing the game he loved most following the injury.
“I’m a professional golfer and the only way my joy can be complete in golfing is by being on the course always, swinging and putting for the top prizes within and outside the country,” he said.
Recall Odegha’s last tournament was the the 53rd PGA Nigeria Championship which held in December 2022 at the Port Harcourt Golf Club in the Rivers State capital.
Since then, the PGA of Nigeria prolific player has not participated in the last four juicy tournaments viz: Meristem Open; ACUTECH Pro-Am; Custodian Classic and the just concluded, Etranzact Golf Classic, all held in Lagos.
