South African rapper and creative Stillo Magolide has shared the creative process behind his latest single Kenny G, which was officially released on 26 September 2025. The artist took to Instagram to explain how the song came together in a fast-paced, collaborative session that unfolded naturally. The release of Kenny G comes ahead of his forthcoming album, expected to drop soon.
In the video, Stillo revealed that the track began with a melody he had created. That melody would go on to form the basis of both the chorus and the hook of the song. He recalled how he reached out to frequent producer Youngtuun to begin shaping the track’s sound.
“I created this melody for it, the melody that becomes the chorus and the hook,” Stillo said. “I sent it to Youngtuun and I was like, ‘Yo man, I’ve got this melody for this song I wanna do.’ It didn’t have a name at the time. I sent it to him and he came up with the first part of the beat.”
With the initial beat completed, the two met in a studio session to build on the track. This session came just after Stillo had finished recording another song, Who Got The Block Hot. Initially, the plan was for Kenny G to be a solo effort.
“And then when we linked up in studio, in a session that we were doing and where I had just finished recording Who Got The Block Hot, we were about to do Kenny G. Sastii was not even supposed to be on the joint,” he explained.
As the instrumental began to play, the session took an unexpected turn. Stillo decided to involve Sastii in the creative process. “And when the joint started playing I was like, ‘Yoh man, actually Sas, let’s do this hook together.’ So he jumped on the hook and then we freestyled a bit, came up with the vibes for the hook.”
Also present in the session was musician Ekow, who contributed by playing live saxophone over the beat. “Ekow was there as well. He was just freestyling with the saxophone,” Stillo added.
Kenny G is now streaming on all major platforms and serves as a preview of what listeners can expect from his upcoming album.
