As Mnqobi was preparing to leave, Touchline played a beat produced by Kazabeats. “It was like he was walking out the door, and he was like, ‘hai nkabi yami, awuyidlale lento leyo futhi,’” Touchline recalled. That spontaneous moment would become the seed of Inkuzi.
He then described how the second part of the chorus came together organically. “I was already writing for him, and when he did that offbeat thing, I thought, okay, cool, he laces it,” he recalled. Remarkably, the initial part of the collaboration didn’t take long at all. “I promise you it wasn’t more than 15 or 20 minutes, and he was out,” Touchline said. Mnqobi Yazo left with encouraging words, saying, “Sa duma sibancane Touchline.”
The energy and optimism in that brief encounter left a lasting impression. “You know that’s the energy we need,” Touchline reflected. He explained how such enthusiasm became contagious, making the creative process feel alive and exciting.
Right after that encounter played out, he then moved on to his verse, which he recorded separately and shared that the following day, Kwesta added his contribution.
