South African music star Tyla has publicly dismissed rumours linking her to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation after false claims spread rapidly across social media. The speculation gained traction after an X (formerly Twitter) user shared a post alleging that the two-time Grammy winner had signed a lucrative deal with the entertainment company following the end of her reported contract with Epic Records.

The viral post claimed that Roc Nation had officially announced Tyla as its newest signee and included an edited image showing what appeared to be a digital billboard in New York’s Times Square displaying the message, “Roc Nation welcomes Tyla to the family.” The post also alleged that Jay-Z personally contacted the singer after becoming an admirer of her music and that a multi-million-dollar agreement had been finalized.

As the post circulated, it was widely reshared across several social media platforms, with many users accepting the claim as fact. However, there was no official announcement from Roc Nation, Tyla, or her management confirming that she had joined the label. Despite the absence of verified information, the rumour continued to spread online, fueled by the edited Times Square image and repeated social media posts.

Tyla has now addressed the speculation directly. In a post shared on her Instagram Stories, the singer wrote: “I’m not signed to Roc Nation.” Her statement put an end to the online rumours and confirmed that the reports were false.

The clarification comes as Tyla prepares for the release of her highly anticipated second studio album, A*POP, which is scheduled to arrive on July 24. The upcoming project follows the success of her self-titled debut album and continues her rise as one of South Africa’s biggest global music stars. According to the album’s official announcement, A*POP will feature previously released songs including “Chanel,” “Is It,” and “She Did It Again” featuring Zara Larsson.

The incident highlights how edited images and unverified social media posts can quickly gain widespread attention before being fact-checked. In this case, a fabricated image and unsupported claims led many users to believe Tyla had signed with Roc Nation, but the singer’s own statement has now confirmed that the reports were inaccurate. As attention shifts back to her music, Tyla remains focused on the upcoming release of A*POP on July 24.
