Grammy-nominated U.S. rapper GloRilla has spoken out against law enforcement after being arrested on drug-related charges, following a home invasion at her residence in Atlanta, Georgia. The 25-year-old star, whose real name is Gloria Hallelujah Woods, was not present during the break-in but was later taken into custody on charges of marijuana possession and possession of a controlled substance.
The incident has sparked widespread attention, with GloRilla publicly criticizing the police for focusing on alleged drugs instead of apprehending the suspects who broke into her home.
Home Invasion at GloRilla’s Atlanta Residence
According to reports, police were called to GloRilla’s home in the early hours of Sunday after three individuals were seen attempting to break in. Family members who were inside the house reportedly alerted law enforcement. One armed occupant fired a weapon at the intruders, prompting them to flee the scene. Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported, and none of the suspects appeared to have been struck.
In a statement from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, police said they are actively investigating the burglary. “The homeowner is a victim of a serious crime, and we are committed to bringing the suspects to justice,” said Sheriff Ron Freeman.
However, while searching the premises, deputies claimed they detected a “strong odor consistent with illegal narcotics.” They stated that marijuana was found “in plain view inside the master bedroom closet.” This discovery led to the decision to obtain a search warrant, ultimately resulting in GloRilla’s arrest on drug charges.
GloRilla Responds: “I’m the Only One That Gets Arrested”
GloRilla, who was performing in Indianapolis at the time of the incident as part of the WNBA All-Star Game festivities, expressed outrage over the arrest. Taking to social media, she wrote, “CRAZY!! My House got Home Invaded Saturday… While I was in Indianapolis performing… and instead of focusing on finding the suspects, they focus on some cannabis.”
“Long story short my house gets home invaded and I’m the only one that gets arrested,” she added.

Her comments quickly went viral, with fans and supporters echoing her frustration over what many see as misplaced law enforcement priorities.
Legal Team Says Police Misused Their Authority
Attorneys representing GloRilla pushed back against police claims regarding the amount of marijuana found. In a statement, her legal team described the incident as a disturbing example of how skewed police priorities have become.
“The arrest of Gloria Woods is a disturbing window into how warped law enforcement priorities have become,” the statement read. “Instead of investigating the violent home invasion and theft at Ms. Woods’ home, they instead sought a search warrant when they spotted what they believed was a small amount of marijuana.”
“Ms. Woods is a victim, not a suspect. This is our tax dollars at work—unbelievable,” the statement continued.
GloRilla Turns Herself In and Is Released on Bond
Despite her frustration, GloRilla voluntarily turned herself in at the Forsyth County Jail on Tuesday. She was released shortly after on a $22,260 bond.
The rapper has not issued any further public statements since her release, but her initial reaction continues to fuel online debate over police practices and the criminalization of marijuana.
GloRilla has quickly become one of the most talked-about new voices in hip-hop. She earned her first Grammy nominations this year for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for her breakout hit Yeah Glo! Known for her raw delivery and commanding stage presence, she has collaborated with major artists including Megan Thee Stallion and BTS’s J-Hope.
Her growing influence in the music industry has made headlines not just for her music but now also for the controversy surrounding her arrest.
The incident reignites conversations around marijuana laws, especially in states where cannabis remains illegal for recreational use. While some jurisdictions have moved toward decriminalization or legalization, Georgia maintains strict laws around marijuana possession.
GloRilla’s case highlights the intersection of celebrity, criminal justice, and evolving attitudes toward cannabis use—especially in high-profile cases that draw national attention.
