Priddy Ugly has addressed his recent absence from the music scene, explaining that his reduced activity in the studio and on social media has not been because he does not want to work with other artists.

The rapper took to social media to clear the air, saying some people have misunderstood his silence and believe he avoids working with certain artists. “I think a lot of people either think I don’t want to do a song with them or that I don’t mess with them,” Priddy Ugly wrote.

He explained that his absence has been linked to personal matters and spending less time in a creative environment. “Honestly, I just haven’t been in studio like that this year, not really on socials neither. Just been handling real life matters & haven’t really been in a music making space,” he said.

Priddy Ugly reassured his supporters that he intends to return to creating music, although he is taking time to regain his energy and reconnect with the process. “I promise yall I’m gonna tap back in. Slowly finding the energy to lock back in. Thank you for your patience,” he shared.

The rapper also revealed that he has unreleased music waiting to be released, telling fans there is still a significant amount of material available. “Tons of music on the hard drive,” he said, while encouraging supporters who want new music to continue holding him accountable. “If y’all really want it, Ima need yall to call me out foreal, foreal.”

Following his message about his absence, Priddy Ugly addressed another issue involving his collaborations, explaining the amount of effort required for him to record verses for other artists.

The rapper said that creating a feature requires more than simply stepping into a studio, especially given his current circumstances. “Also, I don’t think yall understand what it takes for me to do a verse or get into the studio to record these days,” he explained.

Priddy Ugly added that when he does make the effort to record a verse for another artist, he expects that contribution to be treated with the necessary respect and appreciation. “If i somehow manage to get in the booth & record a verse for you and you don’t treat it with care & honour, You’re actually really disrespecting my time & effort,” he said.

He went on to reveal that he has recorded several songs for artists over the years that either never received a release or were not handled in the way he expected after being released. “Recorded a lot of music for people over the years that never saw the light of day with no real explanation. Or if it did come out, it wasn’t treated with care,” Priddy Ugly stated.

Despite expressing his frustration, the rapper clarified that he does not hold resentment towards those situations, acknowledging that the music industry often involves delays and other challenges. “I’m not bitter about it, because I know these things sometimes take time & a lot of politics are at play,” he said.

Priddy Ugly ended his message by asking artists who work with him to recognise the value of his contributions and the effort involved in creating his verses. “But please, RESPECT MY WORK…” he concluded.
